چکیده
Molten salts are often used to store thermal energy in concentrating solar power plants. The need for higher temperature storage systems has prompted investigation into and structural alloys use at temperatures. A eutectic mixture of 68.05 wt% Na2SO4: 31.95 NaCl salt is a potential phase change material such systems, with low cost high latent heat fusion. This paper investigates corrosion Inconel C-276 nickel alloy this under air argon atmospheres. It was found that aggressively corroded rate calculated as 64 mm/year, complex unique structure observed. When tested argon, even more severe, the sample completely consumed 5 days. result attributed basic mechanism which attacked chromium iron, whilst sulphur nickel. molybdenum tungsten content not present significant concentration product, possibly because these elements formed chloride-based compounds evaporated. reinforces oxygen containing can be highly corrosive, resistant superalloys inert

Preferred growth orientation and microsegregation behaviors of eutectic in a nickel-based single-crystal superalloy
A nickel-based single-crystal superalloy was employed to investigate the preferred growth orientation behavior of the (γ + γ') eutectic and the effect of these orientations on the segregation behavior. A novel solidification model for the eutectic island was proposed. At the beginning of the eutectic island's crystallization, the core directly formed from the liquid by the eutectic reaction, an...

متن کاملOn APFIM of Grain Boundaries in a Nickel Base Superalloy
Experimental details of atom probe field ion microscopy (APFIM) of a Ni-16Cr-9Fe alloy are presented. In particular, studies concerning analysis of intergranular carbides and borides and segregation to grain boundaries are described. It was found that NiZ3B6 precipitates are very sensitive to preferential field evaporation, which necessitates optimization of the analysis conditions. In the FIM ...
متن کاملHigh Temperature Deformation Mechanisms in a DLD Nickel Superalloy
The realisation of employing Additive Layer Manufacturing (ALM) technologies to produce components in the aerospace industry is significantly increasing. This can be attributed to their ability to offer the near-net shape fabrication of fully dense components with a high potential for geometrical optimisation, all of which contribute to subsequent reductions in material wastage and component we...
متن کاملDesign of a nickel-base superalloy using a neural network
A new computational tool has been developed to model, discover, and optimize new alloys that simultaneously satisfy up to eleven physical criteria. An artificial neural network is trained from pre-existing materials data that enables the prediction of individual material properties both as a function of composition and heat treatment routine, which allows it to optimize the material properties ...
